Junior achievement

We had to make donuts using an assembly line.

Welcome Back!

We are back and anxious to jump into the third quarter in second grade!  We are having fun getting back into our learning routine as well as setting and adjusting goals to help us be successful as we continue getting ready for THIRD grade!

Here is what we are busy learning in this week...

Reading-We are learning how to visualize as we read.  When we visualize, we are playing movies in our heads as we read books.  This can be practiced at home by reading a book without looking at the pictures and then drawing or sketching what picture is being seen in their heads.

Writing- We are learning how to write informative stories about something we know all about.  (soccer, gymnastics, dancing, football are just a few of our topics)  Today, we wrote three or more parts of our activity and wrote down notes and pictures to get our ideas out of our brains.  We will be creating a table of contents and going through the writing process to have "second grade quality".

Word Study- This week, we are starting back to our spelling cycles.  Look for new words to come home this week!

Math- We are reviewing subtraction with and without regrouping.  We have learned how to check by adding too!  Give your child a two digit subtraction problem and have them show you how to check by adding.  :)  Later this week, we will be estimating differences and solving word problems that require regrouping.  Please make sure your child is getting back into the routine of  studying math facts daily and mark it in their binder.  Thank you!

Social Studies- Mrs. Bond is teaching us Junior Achievement this week.  We are learning about economics and jobs in communities by doing activities that require teamwork and patience.
