Team Learning Update

Happy Friday!
Here is what we are busy learning....

Reading-We are studying story elements such as characters, setting and plot of the stories we are reading.  We are also learning how to find the who, what, when and where of fiction and non-fiction texts. 

Writing-Yesterday, we had a great time sharing our small moment stories with our friends.  Today, we will be sharing with our fifth grade buddies.  They will also be sharing their writing with us.  We will be sipping punch and eating pretzels as part of our writing celebration!  We will be starting a new unit next week in which we will be learning how to write non-fiction lab reports after conducting science experiments.  We have been learning how to write our word study words in "second grade" complete sentences.  I have sent home a rubric and your child's sentences for the week.  Please review this with them and talk about what they did well and how they can improve their score next week.  Thanks!

Math- We are practicing two digit addition with and without regrouping.  Next week, we will be writing word problems and practicing with our friends to solve them.  We will also be reviewing rounding and then solving problems. 

Science- We will be starting our unit about force and motion.  We will also be learning about simple machines.  Your child will be coming home with lots of excitement about Science!!!

Thank you again to our parent chaperones for the zoo last Friday.  We had a super day!
